Architecture Culture & History IC: 3D Abstraction Model

Combining the information we gathered from Culture & History Project 1A and 1B, we brought out the UHU glues, sandpapers and an amount of Balsa woodplanks, because it's time for us to make a 3D abstraction model of our ancient building: The Stoa of Attalos.

Every group has a building of different times, such as Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque etc. Each periods has their own architecture style, and this 3D abstraction model teaches us students to craft out its key importance, like the ornaments of a Gothic building, rather the whole building. For my group, our particular building is built during the Greek period, where form plays a huge role in architecture. So in order to showcase this building, we decided to strip the building into levels of sections. From the roof support system, to the steps entering the shop lots.

In the end it turned out great! We had a great time assembling the model with ease. We got a in-house "Human Calculator" Ricky that did the numbers in scale so that we can progressed efficiently , a "Modelling Engineer" Ker Neng that guided us throughout the whole project with minimum errors, and Austin and Sean who are always there when we need an extra hand.

Perhaps the most valuable lesson I've learnt from this assignment is the method of presenting a building model(duh). Even though workmanship is important, but highlighting the part that makes this building unique from the others is equally critical as well.
