Building Structures B: Extension of a R.C. Bungalow

TASK:
The assignments is divided into two parts, first part should be done in a group while the second part is an individual work.

Part 1 – 10% (Group components)
Working in a group of 8 members, each group is to obtain floor plan of a maximum 3 storeys bungalow. Students are required to carry out structural framing and prepare structural drawings for the bungalow. Structural plans should include foundation plan, ground floor plan, first floor plan and roof plan.

Part 2 – 30% (Individual components)
  • To analysis minimum 6 beams (each beam must subject to different types of load, i.e. UDL from one or more than one slabs, beam with point load(s) or combination of UDL and PL)
  • To analysis minimum 4 columns (from roof to foundation level)

LEARNING OUTCOME:
  • Produce a complete documentation on structural system of a case study
  • Explore and understand the concept of structural analysis
  • Identification of structural components
  • Recognize, Execute and implement basic procedures of building structure design
  • Produce a structural proposal

REFLECTION:

This project teach us how to analyse the structure in a bungalow. Hence, we also need to produce a proper document for structural system. We recognize, analyse then execute the project step by step. Finally, we able to produce a proper structural proposal. Structural anaylsis is a basic of building study, it do help us in future.
